Staff members also act as advisors developing trust and interpersonal relationships with the students and their parents/guardians. Through frequent and timely contacts, all concerned parties are kept informed about specific details relating to the student’s attendance, academic progress and student behavior. Teachers use several techniques for classroom instruction and employ the “Positive Behavior Interventions and Support” (PBIS) model. Discipline is focused on realistic consequences rather than forward punishment. Students have many opportunities to remedy their problems before a parent/guardian conference is scheduled.
